Our Team

For nearly 50 years since the founding of the company, we are honored to bring employment opportunities to 57 full-time families in the SW Washington/Portland Metro area. This assures our customers that they will be treated like our neighbors – because they are!

Many of our employees have been with us for 30+ years, and have trained our staff to ensure that every customer “feels the difference”. We continually strive to serve our customers as an industry leader, and to provide quality craftsmanship with our residential HVAC installations, services, and repairs.

Our History

In 1975 Marlin Tillman founded Area Heating & Cooling, Inc with just a few employees. In 1988, Marlin hired Tina Blackmore and Swaran Battan to manage and operate the administration side of his business. Tina, freshly out of high school and Business Trade School, was born and raised in Clark County. Both of her parents were self-employed, and Tina was raised on a farm with strong work ethics. Swaran started working at Area Heating & Cooling, Inc in her early twenties, and was born in the Fiji Islands. Also raised with entrepreneurial parents that owned a local bus transit business, Swaran possesses the same strong work ethic as Tina.

Mr. Tillman sold the business in 2010 to Tina Blackmore and Swaran Battan. We have grown the business to nearly 60 employees and have opened a second location in Clackamas, Oregon to better serve that area. We continue to treat customers and employees with honesty, while always standing behind our work and ensuring customer satisfaction.

How We Give Back

Operation Warm Heart

Since conception, we are the top contributor and have donated over the past ten years to the Clark Public Utilities program Operation Warm Heart! This program helps families in need stay warm each winter by providing assistance with their electricity bill. We love being able to give back to our local community!

Bearcats Sponsorship

The objective and vision of B12P Bearcats is to provide an advanced level of
youth football specializing in the rise and development of local young athletes.
We strive to provide positive mentorship and elite work outs to both challenge
and advance today’s young athlete while creating a lifetime brotherhood

Community Roots

Spring of 2024 we are working with the Community Roots program by donating the installation of a TRANE gas furnace and heat pump system at 3600 O Street, Vancouver, WA.

This is currently home to 11 individuals, each with their own bedroom and shared kitchen and living space.

Pink Lemonade Project

The Pink Lemonade Project provides support for those diagnosed with or recovering from breast cancer in Oregon and SW Washington. Area Heating has made cash donations to their walk/run events.
